Christmas has arrived at Regent Farm…

We have begun our celebrations for the Christian festival of Christmas in earnest. School is filled with the sound of carols, and glitter is covering every surface. Many classes have looked at the festivals held in other world religions in the run up to this special period, with very successful visits to the synagogue and mosque as well as to St Hugh’s church.

Although we will still be joining in collective acts of worship at school over the next few weeks, we will not be holding any more Merit Assemblies or Early Years Celebration Assemblies. Mrs Ashcroft would like to thank all of the adults who have shared these special occasions with us.

Live theatre at school

At Regent Farm we are very lucky to have links with national theatre companies who visit school to perform plays in house. As these productions are very expensive we save them for important times of the year. On Wednesday we enjoyed the performance of ‘Robin Hood’. On Monday we are lucky enough to have a second theatre company visiting to perform ‘The Firebird’. All costs of the performances will be covered by school.

Speaking of Theatre…

Tickets for our performances go on sale on Monday if your child is in Year 1,2,3 or 4.

Tickets for the Early Years Performances (Nursery and Reception) go on sale on Wednesday.

Our PTFA will be selling tickets everyday next week in the small hall from 8.30am until 9am and from 3.00pm until 3.30pm.

Please note that due to limited space and in the interests of fairness, tickets will initially be limited to x2 per child, later in the week the decision will be made as to the possibility of buying extra.

Tickets will be sold at £1.50 each. This ticket includes admittance to the Fair which will be held on Wednesday 10th from 4.30 – 6.30 and Thursday 11th from 4.30 -6.30.

Trips and Visits

Please check dates for diaries below for visits and trips that your child might be involved in at this busy time of year.

Cancelled Clubs

Please check below to see if your club sessions are going ahead next week. Many have finished for 2014.

All of the adults involved would like to say a huge thank you for your continued support.

Christmas Carol Singing

Our Carol Concert will be held on Friday 19th December at 2.00pm. All parents are invited to this lovely end to the term. In addition to this our choir will be singing at the Grainger Market at 10.30am on Wednesday 3rd December and in Eldon Square (outside of John Lewis) on Tuesday 9th December at 11am. Come along and show your support.

Save the Children – Christmas Jumper Day

On Friday 12th December children will be asked to wear Christmas jumpers to support the Save the Children charity. These can be home decorated or shop bought versions. We ask for a 50p donation if your child chooses to wear their jumper. More information can be found at

Christmas Fair

On Wednesday 10th December between 4.30 and 6.30 we will hold our Christmas Fair. There is lots to buy and we are lucky enough to have our own petting zoo too. As children MUST be back at school by 4.30 to get changed for the performance, this is a good time for parents to see all of the Christmas Crafts we have been making. The Fair will also run on Thurdsay 11th (4.30 – 6.30). Everyone is free to visit on either night. Entrance is free with a ticket for the performance.

Intu Elf Run

Good luck to all of our runners in the Elf Runs at Eldon Square and the Metro Centre on Sunday 7th December. Places are still available if you would like to make this fun run a part of your family festive traditions.

Christmas Party Days

Please see Dates for Diaries for Christmas Party Days. More information about what to wear and what party food to bring will be available from your class teacher. Each class has a different system therefore it is very important that you get the details directly.

This week the Attendance  Award went to Mrs Middlemas and the Owls.  They had 98% attendance.  Congratulations. The whole school attendance was 96% for the week.

Recently there have been more children arriving late and this can be very upsetting for children and also disturbs the rest of their class when they come in.  Please can you make sure your child is in the yard and ready to go into their classroom by 8.50am. Many thanks.
