A huge WELL DONE! to our fabulous Quicksticks team who won their tournament on Wednesday at Wallbottle. Our trophy is busy being engraved and will be with us shortly. The winning quicksticks team will receive their certificates in Wednesday morning’s assembly (Wed 4th March 9.10am) Parents are welcome to join us.

Big Pedal begins on Monday

Please try your very best to cycle or scoot to school from Monday 3rd March until Friday 20th. Join in our Bike it Breakfast on Thursday 5th at 8.15am.

World Book Day Celebrations

Thursday 5th March is National World Book Day. Children are invited to bring their favourite book to school to share with their class on this day. In classes across the school children will be joining in book based activities including a special reading of ‘Mrs Armitage on Wheels’. Discos to celebrate the day will be held on Thursday evening for children in Nursery, Reception and Year 1 and on Friday Evening for children in Years 2, 3 and 4. The children can dress up as their favourite book character for the discos, which will be held from 5pm until 7pm in the school halls.

Year 3 and 4 Football Club

Football Club will be cancelled on Wednesday 11th March for one week only due to training. For the final three weeks of term football club will be held OUTDOORS. Children need suitable footwear and clothing – it will be muddy, wet and possibly chilly!

Parents’ Evenings

Due to the commitments of teachers to clubs and training, parents’ evenings will be held on a number of dates over the following weeks. Please see your class teachers directly about the dates and times that are available to you. We regret that this may mean you may not be able to see a number of teachers on the same evening.

PE Kits

Please ensure that your child has the correct PE kit in school. This should include:

A change of white top (not the top your child has been wearing for the rest of the day)

Black or navy shorts

Plimsolls or trainers

Jogging bottoms should only be worn for outdoor sports in cold weather. These trousers are not permitted for indoor PE. Many thanks for your cooperation.

Nursery Places

We still have a few places available in our superb Nursery for September 2015. We would be pleased if you could ‘spread the word’ to your friends and family. Parents of children who will be three years old by 31st August are eligible to apply.

The office staff would like to remind parents that applications for Nursery must be in before Friday 27th March.

Communications Note - Free School Meals

Since September 2014 all infant age children across the country - Reception, Year One and Year Two, have been eligible for free school meals. In Newcastle this means an extra 3000 meals are served each day. We think this is great news as 3000 more children are now eating a healthy, balanced meal at lunchtime. For pupils of other ages, if you are on Income Support or receive certain other benefits and your child is in school on a full-time basis (including those in sixth-form or children at nursery for a full day) you are entitled to free school meals. This will not only save you £370 every year, it also guarantees your child will get a hot, nutritious meal at lunch to keep them going until home time, and means you may also get help to pay for school activities, such as music lessons and school trips. It is really easy to check if you are eligible and sign-up to free-school meals. Find out more at or phone 0191 278 7878 and ask for free school meals.
