New School Building

We’re excited to share that a major redevelopment of our school has now begun, funded by the Department for Education. This project will deliver a brand-new, modern two-story school building on our existing site at Wansbeck Road South.

The new facilities will include:

  • State-of-the-art classrooms and learning spaces
  • New sports pitches and a multi-use games area
  • Improved parking and access for staff and visitors

To ensure minimal disruption to learning, pupils will remain in the current school building throughout the construction phase. Once the new school is complete, the old building will be safely demolished, making way for additional open space where children can play, learn, and thrive.

February Update

Over the first month, the builders have been making lots of good progress to prepare the site. Our temporary pathway into school is now open and will remain in use for approximately a year.

The new yard has been built next to the current adventure playground and the children have been thoroughly enjoying the space at playtimes.

We are also taking this opportunity to link the ongoing building work with our wider curriculum. B and K have held an assembly focused on construction site safety, and during our upcoming topic, Gizmos and Gadgets, they will be working with the children on a range of small building related challenges.

Excitement is building as B and K will also be selecting the winner of our Name the Crane competition next week!

April Update

We were delighted to hold our official 'Breaking Ground Ceremony' to mark the start of our new building project. Members of our School Council were joined by representatives from Bowmer & Kirkland, the DfE, the Local Authority and local councillors to celebrate this exciting milestone. Our pupils carried out the important task, turning the soil with a special silver spade, and were full of enthusiasm about what comes next!

This month has already seen great progress. The lift shaft has now been installed and work on the foundations is well underway. Later this month, the builders will pour the concrete slab, ready for the first wall panels to be put in place.
