Children's Leadership Teams

At our school, we believe that every child has the potential to be a leader. We provide meaningful opportunities for pupils to take on responsibilities, share their ideas and play an active role in shaping school life. Through our Children’s Leadership Teams, pupils learn the value of participation, teamwork and making a real difference in their community. They also understand that their voice really does matter.

Children are usually elected through class votes, giving them an early experience of democracy, fair decision-making and representing the views of others. Each role supports confidence, independence and a strong sense of belonging.

School Council

Our School Council is made up of elected representatives from each class. Councillors share the ideas and suggestions of their classmates, discuss ways to improve school life and help plan events and initiatives. They work with staff to develop new projects, promote positive behaviour and make sure every pupil’s voice is heard.

Inclusion Ambassadors

Inclusion Ambassadors help ensure that everyone feels welcome, valued and supported. They promote kindness, fairness and understanding on the playground and around school. Their role includes supporting children who may be feeling lonely, championing inclusive practices and helping staff identify ways to make the school even more accessible and nurturing for all. At present, they are having a vital role in shaping the new school environment both inside and out.

Art Ambassadors

Art Ambassadors celebrate creativity across the school. They help maintain art displays, support younger children with creative activities and contribute to whole-school art projects. They promote a love of the arts and help ensure the school environment is vibrant and inspiring. Currently they are working with a local artist to help bring our 'Peter Rabbit' to life for the summer 'Tales on the Tyne' trail.

Buddies

Our Buddies play an important role in supporting younger children during playtimes and lunchtimes. They model positive behaviour, help new pupils settle in and encourage cooperative play. Buddies help create a friendly, safe and happy environment by being role models of respect and responsibility.

Eco Stars

Our Eco Stars take the lead on environmental projects and sustainability. They help monitor recycling, reduce waste and look after school gardens or outdoor areas. They encourage others to care for the environment and help organise events such as litter picks, energy‑saving campaigns or support our food waste project.

Classroom Monitors

Every class also elects Classroom Monitors who help with daily routines and responsibilities. Roles may include library monitor, equipment organiser, digital leader, register helper and more. These roles help children develop independence, problem-solving and pride in contributing to the smooth running of their classroom.
