Welcome Back September 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope you have all had a wonderful summer, we can’t wait to welcome you back to school tomorrow.

As you may have seen, we have had lots of work done in and out of school this summer. Apart from a few bits of finishing off, most of this work is now complete. The new secure fencing is finished and will make a huge difference to the way staff and pupils can use the site. It will make outside learner much easier and, most importantly, is peace of mind for you all. Further work outside has included installing new litter bins, removing the old low-level wall from the yard and getting rid of the tired shed from outside year 2.

Internally we have installed a new reception window and reconfigured the admin office; I hope you will find the revised layout welcoming and easy to manage. Furthermore, we have a new visitor’s toilet in the foyer which you are welcome to use as needed - there is plenty of room for a pushchair and we’ve included a baby changing table too. There is also a new meeting room in our admin area.

Over the next couple of weeks, an electronic signing in system for staff and visitors will also be installed. This will ensure all adults are wearing photographic ID. We will also be having new secure magnetic locks installed to strengthen the safeguarding in school even further.

Undoubtedly the biggest work we have had in school is a brand-new heating system, we are exceptionally grateful to Newcastle Council for securing funding for this work. The internal work such as pipes and new radiators is finished however there is still some external work in the boiler house which will be completed this half term.

It has been a very hectic six weeks and I would personally like to thank Mr Laidler and all the staff for their flexibility and hard work this holiday to ensure the school is ready for the children tomorrow.

Just to remind you that school will now open at 8:45am and remain open until 8:55am to allow for a more staggered drop off. If children arrive after this time they will need to come in the main entrance and will unfortunately be marked as late. The gates onto the yard will open at about 8:30am and remain open until 9:00am, please help by exiting the school site as soon as you’ve dropped off your children. Staff will be outside in the morning to show the children where they need to line up.

If your child has any medication such as inhalers or Epipens please can you ensure they arrive with these, clearly named, tomorrow morning.

Can I also please remind you to ensure all children are wearing the correct uniform, with black school shoes, and that everything is clearly named. Hairbands and bows need to be small, no unicorns or cat ears please!

Once again, I hope you had a wonderful summer and made some super memories with family and friends. I have been overwhelmed by the number of Elmer pictures I have seen already, I hope you’ve managed to find our elephant Nature’s Stars! I am currently putting up a display in the entrance to celebrate Elmer’s Great North Parade, if you have a photograph of your elephant hunting please bring one in to add to the collection.

I am feeling so honoured and privileged to be able to begin this academic year as your head teacher, our children are delightful and a true credit to you and the school. This is such an exciting time for Regent Farm; we have so many plans over the next year which I will update you with soon. In the meantime, if you have any questions, further suggestions or feedback on our changes to the school site please come and see me at any time.

Kind regards,

Helen Moore

Head Teacher
