6th September Information to Parents

Dear Parents/Carers,

What a wonderful start to the year we have had! It has been delightful to see all the children back in school, they look so smart and have had a brilliant first week. I have seen the children taking part in some fantastic art activities this week, learning songs, going on adventure trails and year 4 even squeezed in a trip to visit Dippy the Dinosaur. I was so proud of our pupils to get feedback from the Discovery Museum that they were “best school visitors they had ever had and really took time to look at the exhibits.”

SEND Support in School

I wanted to write to you all and let you know the change to our SEND support in school. As you are aware Mrs Pack has stepped down from her role as SENCO, in the short term we will be welcoming a teacher called Mrs Doonan to school on Tuesday’s. She has been a SENCO for many years and has a wealth of experience to support children throughout Regent Farm. If you need to speak to her for advice or information regarding your child please don’t hesitate to telephone the school office or pop in on a Tuesday.

We are looking to widen the clubs offered in school this year but football will commence next week with Lee Sterry. Year 3 football (boys and girls) will be on Tuesdays 3:15 - 4:30pm and Year 3 and 4 Girls football will be on Fridays 3:15- 4:30pm. Please let your class teacher know if your child would like to attend; all children must be collected by an adult at the end of the club – they cannot walk home alone. Mr Hudson will start Year 4 mixed Football Club on Tuesday 17th September. This will also run from 3:15 - 4:30pm every Tuesday.

Thank you so much for everyone’s support to ensure the children have come to school in correct uniform, our children look so smart and it was a joy to see them all in our first assembly of the new year. As the weather seems to be turning colder quite rapidly please ensure your children do bring a coat to school which is clearly named. Can I also take this opportunity to remind you the school policy is that children bring a book bag into school every day – this is important as all children will be bringing home reading books, library books and a new reading diary. Please listen to your child read everyday and write a comment into their diary; their book and diary must be in school every day. I appreciate it can be very hard for children to identify their bag when we have 30 blue book bags sitting in every classroom; therefore, if you would like to, children may attach one small key ring onto their bag but please be mindful these must fit into trays.

Once again, thank you to you all for the wonderful start to the year. We have lots of positive comments about the new fencing, site changes and alterations to the start of the school day but if you have any further feedback please let me know. I am currently finalising an overview of dates for the rest of this term which I will issue to all parents as soon as possible to give you information about parent’s evenings, charity days and performances.

If you ever need to speak to me please feel free to catch me on the yard or pop into the school office. In the meantime, please keep your Elmer photos coming in – our display in the entrance is starting to fill up!

Kind regards,

Helen Moore
