General Information

Regent Farm First School is a two-form entry first school catering for approximately 330 children between the ages of 3 and 9 years. We are also very proud to have an Additional Resource Centre on site for children with a visual impairment; these children are fully integrated into life at Regent Farm and supported by specialist staff.

Children are taught in mixed ability classes, grouped according to chronological age.  There is a nursery, which currently has part time (two and a half days a week) and full-time provision. There are two Reception classes and two further classes in every year group from Year 1 to Year 4.

Regent Farm First School is part of the Gosforth Schools' Trust; a close working partnership of local first and middle schools. We are also a part of the Gosforth Pyramid of schools consisting of nine first schools, three middle schools and Gosforth High School. Heads and staff of the schools meet regularly to discuss curriculum and organisation, ensuring smooth transition and continuity as children move through the stages of their education in the pyramid.

The doors to school open at 8:45am and remain open until 8:55am. At this time the register is taken and any children who arrive late must come into the main office to be signed into school.

The day finished at 3:15pm.

We also have onsite childcare before and after school for those children who need to attend. Our Bumblebees Out of School Club is managed by Miss Burn who is a familiar face to all our children. Please see the separate section of the website for full details.

Our meals are cooked onsite by a fantastic team, we are proud of our healthy lunches and will try our best to cater for any dietary requirements. If you wish your child to have a school dinner, will ask you to complete a form when they start school. If you would like your child to have a packed lunch please ensure these are healthy and do not contain any fizzy drinks.  Please can we point out we are a nut free school therefore please do not send any nut-based products in packed lunches.

All children from Reception to Year 2 children are entitled to a free school meal provided by the government.  Children in Year 3 and 4 need to pay for their school lunch via SIMs Pay.

Tots to Teams at Kingston Park sell our uniform.  They are open all year round except for bank holidays and until 12 noon on a Saturday.  A uniform leaflet is available from School Office or phone Tots to Teams on 0191 271 5454.

We will regularly email you with messages, newsletters and other letters. This method of communication ensures important messages are sent directly to parents or carers. We usually send these to one adult per family but if you would like multiple email addresses added to your account please just let the school office know.

When your child starts school, we will ask you to complete a contact form with emergency contact details. This form also shows who will be collecting your child from school – we will not be able to release a child to an adult who is not written on this form. Please inform the School Office if you have moved house or changed your mobile phone number as soon as possible.   It is important we have the correct phone numbers in case your child is ill and we need to contact you.

We have a lovely group of parents who help to run the PTA.  We always welcome new members, if you wish to come along to a meeting and help at any events please leave your details with the School Office.

Holidays in term time are not permitted.  The government make clear that Head teachers may not grant any leave of absence unless there are exceptional circumstances which does not include holiday.  The regulations also set out procedures for issuing penalty notices (fines) to each parent who fails to ensure their children’s regular attendance at school.   If you wish to request an absence from school you must complete a form which can be collected from the school office. These will then be reviewed by Mrs Moore.

If your child is absent please phone school to advise us on the first day of the absence by 9:15am.  You can leave a message on the absence line.  Please state your child’s name, class and reason for absence.  It is important to give a reason so we are able to monitor illness within school.  All attendance is closely monitored.

If your child needs to go to the doctors or has a hospital appointment the school office is authorised by Mrs Moore to approve these.  Please come to the school office a couple of days before the appointment with any evidence you may have from the doctor or hospital with the date/time of the appointment.

If you child is sick.  Please keep them off school for 48 hours from the last time they were sick or had diarrhoea; this prevents the spread of the illness.  This information comes from the Health Authority. If you are ever unsure please don’t hesitate to ring the school office or speak to a class teacher.

To help children attend school we will administer prescribed medication when required. If your child requires any medicine – including inhalers this must be clearly labelled.  Please complete a medicine consent form at the School Office. If your child requires 4 doses a day of a medicine, for example antibiotics, we will administer one dose at lunchtime.  Medicine must be passed to and from the office by an adult.

If, as a parent of a pupil attending this school, you require a paper copy of the information on this website, we shall provide this free of charge. Please speak to the school office.
