Over the last week the children in school have been helping paint our elephant ‘Nature’s Stars’ to form part of The Great North Parade which will start across the North-East of England in mid-August.
We worked with a local artist, Lynda Nelson, to design and paint the elephant statue and the result is fabulous. All the children had great fun adding their finger prints and some of our school council helped with the sky and grass detail.
The concept behind our artwork is Regent Farm’s wonderful outdoor learning environment and our motto ‘Inspiring our Rising Stars’. It shows the school grounds in all four seasons: each tree has been made using children’s fingerprints illustrating that, even from the smallest of things, wonderful beauty can be created.
I can’t thank Vision for Education enough as they have sponsored our school elephant and helped fund the artist’s work. The whole school community are very grateful to their continued support.
Nature’s Star will be on display after school on Monday so please feel free to pop along and have a look.
We hope you will enjoy hunting out all the elephants over the summer holidays and throughout the Autumn. I will send some more information about the trail, some maps and the location of Nature’s Stars when I have it.
